⁠Docker Postgres client

A Postgres client⁠ Docker image:

• lightweight image based on Alpine Linux only 10 MB,
• multiarch with support of amd64 and arm64,
• non-root container user,
• automatically updated: Renovate tracks the Alpine and postgresql16-client versions and opens the merge requests,
• image signed with Cosign⁠,
• a software bill of materials (SBOM) attestation added using Syft⁠,
• the complete SBOM, with its known vulnerabilities, published on sbom-docker⁠,
• available on Docker Hub and Quay.io.

⁠Running psql

docker run -t --rm jfxs/postgres-client psql --version

or

docker run -t --rm quay.io/ifxs/postgres-client psql --version

Docker latest tag is 16.15-r0-001, 16.15-r0, 16⁠.

The complete software bill of materials (SBOM) of each published image, with its known vulnerabilities, is collected in the sbom-docker⁠ repository, under the component postgres-client.

⁠Versioning

Docker tag definition:

• the postgresql16-client apk package version used (including the Alpine revision, e.g. 16.15-r0),
• a dash
• an increment to differentiate build with the same version starting at 001

<postgresql16_client_version>-<increment>

Example: 16.15-r0-001

Each published image gets the following tags:
