We describe below considertions we took into account\nfor this Jenkins solution.\n\n\n## Base image\n\nWe use the official Jenkins Docker image available on Docker Hub:\nhttps://hub.docker.com/r/jenkins/jenkins.\n\n`FROM jenkins/jenkins:lts`\n\nThis is a fully functional [Jenkins instance](https://jenkins.io/).\n\n\n## SSH support\n\nSSH enables secure communication between a container and a client. \nIn order for a custom Docker image in Azure Web App for Containers to support SSH, \nyou must build it into a Dockerfile. You enable SSH in the Docker file itself.\n\nIn the context of Web App for Containers, SSH is necessary to install the Jenkins UI.\n\nFor this purpose we followed [instructions in the Microsoft documentation](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/app-service/containers/tutorial-custom-docker-image#connect-to-web-app-for-containers-using-ssh).\n\nThe customization include:\n\n* Several lines added to our Dockerfile\n```\nRUN apt-get update -y\nRUN apt-get install openssh-server -y\nRUN echo \"root:Docker!\" | chpasswd \\\n && echo \"cd /home\" >> /etc/bash.bashrc\n\nCOPY sshd_config /etc/ssh/\n...\nEXPOSE 2222\n```\n\n* A `sshd_config` file copied to `/etc/ssh/`\n* `service ssh start` command in the entrypoint shell script `jenkins.sh`\n\n\n## Persistent Files\n\nIn order to persist Jenkins data, we utilize the Web App's /home directory that is mounted \nto Azure File Storage (see NOTE below). \n\nTo make our Azure data persistent, we install Jenkins in `/home/jenkins_home`. \nIn the Dockerfile, the relevant lines are:\n```\nRUN mkdir -p /home/jenkins_home\nENV JENKINS_HOME /home/jenkins_home\n```\nNOTE: By default, the Web App for Containers platform mounts an SMB share \nto the /home/ directory. You can do that by setting the \n`WEBSITES_ENABLE_APP_SERVICE_STORAGE` app setting to \"true\" in the Application settings \nblade of the Web App.\n\nIMPORTANT: Manually create the `jenkins_home` directory in the Web App `/home` directory \n_before_ you run the container and install Jenkins. This can be done from the Kudu Bash screen \nor from an FTPS session.\n\n\n## Gotchas\n\nAt the \"Create First Admin User\" step of the Jenkins installation process (Figure 1), you may be shown the message \n'No valid crumb was included in the request'. Bypass this issue by clicking the \"Continue as admin\" link \ninstead of the \"Save and Continue\" button (Figure 2). \n\nOnce in Jenkins:\n\n1. You may see an error message that reads, \"It appears that your reverse proxy set up is broken.\" (Figure 3) \nGo to the \"Configure System\" screen (/configure), scroll down to the Jenkins UTL setting, append port 8080 to the \nURL - e.g. https://mysitename.azurewebsites.net:8080 (Figure 4) , click Apply, then click Save.\n\n2. Next, Go to the \"Configure Global Security\" screen (/configureSecurity), scroll down to the \"Prevent Cross Site Require Forgery exploits\"\nsection, enable \"Enable proxy compatibility\", click Apply, then click Save (Figure 5).\n\n3. Now you can update the admin user configuration at /user/admin/configure.\n\n**Figure 1**\n\n![Create admin error](/images/jenkins-create-admin-error.jpg)\n\n**Figure 2**\n\n![Continue](/images/jenkins-continue.jpg)\n\n**Figure 3**\n\n![Reverse proxy is broken](images/jenkins-reverse-proxy-broken.jpg)\n\n**Figure 4**\n\n![Append port 8080](images/jenkins-url-port.jpg)\n\n**Figure 5**\n\n![Enable proxy compatibility](images/jenkins-proxy.jpg)\n\n\n## References\n\n1.
